Consumer health data privacy policy

Effective and last updated September 3, 2026.

This policy supplements the general privacy policy. It is intended to meet Washington’s My Health My Data Act and similar state requirements. It was approved on September 3, 2026.

1. Categories of consumer health data we collect

Depending on what you answer, we collect information about:

  • Bathing, dressing, moving around, toileting, meals, bills, driving, and the condition of the home.
  • Falls, steadiness, getting up or calling for help, and home hazards.
  • Changes in memory and judgment, forgotten appliances, getting lost, repeated questions, scams, and financial decisions.
  • Medicines, emergency-room or hospital visits, and daily health tasks.
  • Social contact, nearby help, ways to call for help, help already received, mood, and activities.

We also collect:

  • The event that brought you to the site, how quickly things are changing, how the adult child is coping, and optional free text.
  • The assessment’s derived result, flagged areas, serious-event rules, uncertainty state, and version.
  • Relationship, optional first name, age band, living situation, last in-person visit, email, state, or province when supplied.

We do not ask for the parent’s full legal name, birth date, home address, phone number, or government identifier.

2. Sources of consumer health data

The adult using the assessment supplies the answers. That person may be answering about herself or about a parent, relative, or friend.

Parents Home Care derives the result and flagged areas by applying the published rules to those answers.

We do not buy consumer health data from data brokers. We do not enrich an assessment with advertising profiles, location histories, or third-party health records.

3. Why we collect and use consumer health data

We use it to:

  • Produce and explain the result.
  • Save, email, share, compare, or delete a result when requested.
  • Show a visit checklist when information is uncertain.
  • Show relevant next steps and resources.
  • Prepare an optional Zaidey signup only after separate consent.
  • Secure the service, prevent abuse, and keep required consent records.

We do not use answers for advertising. We do not use an analytics service at launch.

4. Categories shared and specific recipients

We do not sell consumer health data.

We share limited data with these processors only to operate the service:

  • Vercel: website and server hosting.
  • Neon: database storage.
  • Resend: requested email delivery.

Zaidey

Zaidey can receive a limited result summary only after a separate, affirmative consent. The screen names each field it will send:

  • outcome, flagged areas, and serious-event codes
  • reason for visiting, pace of change, and adult-child strain
  • relationship, optional first name, pronoun, age band, and living situation
  • region, email, assessment ID, and completion time

Individual question answers and free text are excluded.

A Place for Mom

A Place for Mom does not receive consumer health data from Parents Home Care. If you choose a placement introduction, its website receives only a random reference code. You decide what to enter there.

5. How to exercise access, withdrawal, and deletion rights

Use the privacy controls on your saved-result page, or email privacy@parentshomecare.com. You may ask us to:

  • Confirm whether we collect, share, or use your consumer health data.
  • Give you access to the data connected to your assessment.
  • List the affiliates and third parties with which it was shared.
  • Withdraw consent for collection or sharing.
  • Delete the data, including from active systems and processors where required.

How we verify you

We verify a request through possession of the private saved-result link, or a one-time verification link sent to the email already attached to the assessment. We do not ask for government ID or new sensitive details.

If we cannot verify a request by either method, we will explain that we cannot connect the requester to a record.

How long we take

We will respond without undue delay and within 30 days. Where the applicable law permits it and more time is reasonably necessary, we may extend once by up to another 30 days. We will explain the reason and the new deadline before the first 30 days end.

Requests are free unless the law permits a fee for repeated or manifestly unfounded requests.

What withdrawing consent does

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already completed while consent was active. It may prevent us from saving or re-opening the result.

6. How to appeal

If we deny all or part of a request, our response will explain why and tell you how to appeal.

Email privacy@parentshomecare.com with the subject “Privacy appeal” within 30 days. Include the assessment reference and the decision you want reviewed.

Someone who did not make the original decision will review the appeal. We will answer in writing within 30 days.

You may contact the regulator available to you without waiting for our internal appeal, and using our appeal process does not extend a regulator's filing deadline. If the appeal is denied, we will provide the applicable regulator information again.
